Weight Reduction Product Design Development Processes and Goals
Using our multi-disciplinary optimization techniques, our experienced team has been able to achieve unprecedented results. Using our ACP Process we are able to reduce mass and overall cost significantly, while maintaining or even improving the current performance level of the product. In this practice, our expert team revisits process requirements and uses the most advanced technology, tools and materials to give the client the most light-weight structure possible.
Our engineering services group offers three options from which to choose depending on your budget and overall project goals.
Option #1: Full scale structural optimization- Fresh New Product: Change in current product architecture which includes packaging, topology, geometry, grade, gage and styling, etc.
Advantages/Returns: Comprehensive goals are achievable in this option and all new styling and/or packaging is developed. This offers the greatest possible mass reduction & overall efficiency improvement.
Process Change: tooling, manufacturing process, prototyping, testing and confirmation
Option #2: Critical Parts Optimization-Start with Current Product: This option allows us to analyze and optimize critical features by looking at structural performance and optimizing geometry, gage and grades (3Gs) of critical parts, while keeping existing product architecture.
Advantages/Returns: Targeted goals are achievable. A high degree of mass reduction and efficiency improvements are achievable.
Process Change Investment: tooling, sub-assembly level prototyping, testing and confirmation

Option #3: Critical parts optimization –Start with Current product (no change in Shape): This option allows us to analyze and optimize critical features by looking at structural performance and optimizing gage and grade (2Gs) of critical parts, while keeping existing product architecture.
Advantages/Returns: Very focused goals achievable (existing styling/packaging/ reasonable degree of mass reduction & efficiency improvements)
Process Change Investment: sub-assembly level prototyping, testing and confirmation
