ETA
- Denton ATD Distribution
Agreement
A
distribution agreement between ETA and Denton ATD,
allowing ETA to sell Denton Virtual Dummy products
and support them through VPG, was signed this
summer. The agreement linking Denton ATD, a
global leader in the development and manufacture
of advanced crash dummies and safety measurement
devices, and ETA, a leader in the field of virtual
product development and engineering software is
effective immediately. More

FE
Dummy Model Updates in VPG
3.4
As part of
VPG's Safety Module, ETA has released a set of
updated and improved FE Dummy Models. These
dummies are a result of nearly two years of work
to improve the response of the Hybrid III family
of dummies and document the calibration of each of
the dummies' components and sub-systems. This 3rd
Generation Hybrid III Dummy Family is made up of a
5th percentile Female, a 50th% Male and a 95th%
Male dummy model. Since these dummies are somewhat
simple, they run quickly, yet provide accurate and
valuable results. These dummies were improved
through the collaboration with an Asian automotive
OEM, and are now in regular use in the vehicle
development process. As a part of the
dummy and barrier library in VPG/Safety, these
dummies can be easily positioned using the VPG
software and included in full vehicle crash
simulations. To find out more, please contact us, or the eta/VPG
Distributor in your
region. |
Expanded
Die System Analysis Features in
DYNAFORM
ETA's powerful
die analysis solution, DYNAFORM, now offers over
90 new and enhanced features in the latest
release, version 5.7. The version has
significantly enhanced AutoSetup, the BSE module,
the DFE module, Pre/Post Processor and the DSA
module.
Within DSA, a scrap shedding and
removal function can help prevent line shutdown
caused by the failure of scrap to exit the
workstation.
Also incorporated in the expanded DSA
module, is the ability to simulate the transfer of
metal as it progresses through the manufacturing
process and to predict interference between the
work-piece and tools through simulated part
deformation.
Additionally, the module allows the user to
simulate operational loads to analyze die
structural integrity and generate FEA models of
the structure.

Spotlight - Drop Test
Simulation
VPG's Drop Test Simulation Module
(DTM) allows the user to create drop, shock,
vibration and pressure simulations quickly and
easily. The user can define specific angles and
drop heights, while it automatically calculates
parameters and defines related LS-DYNA
cards. The user can control the simulation
starting height, duration, number of steps in
output, damping, batch
output. This module is ideal for
packaging design, cell phone development, laptop
computer development and many other consumer
products. It provides outstanding analysis
control and has a material library with a variety
of materials which includes steel, aluminum,
plastic, PCB and foam. The features can be
accessed from VPG's main menu by selecting
DTM. |
Training
ETA is now offering a new
training course, Introduction to Modeling
with VPG PrePost. This course
introduces the user to modeling concepts and
tools including shell meshing, solid mesh
generation, auto-meshing, model checking and
enhancement, material and thickness
definitions. To register, please visit:

Military
Vehicles Exhibition &
Conference
|
Since it has
become an important tool in the industry, ETA was
proud to showcase VPG as well as Engineering
Consulting Services as an exhibitor at this
year's Military Vehicles Exhibition &
Conference last month. There were over 3,500
attendees and 200 exhibitors at the
event. Download Brochure |
